Gallstones disease associated with binary symptoms such as gallbladder dyspepsia and biliary colic is commonly treated by cholecysteGtomy, in contrast, biliary symptoms in the absence of gallstones (acalculous biliary symptoms, ABS) often constitute a diagnostic and management challenge. Decision to recommend choIecystectomy to patients with ABS is sometimes based on abnormal cholescintigram, indicating dyskinesia. Recently, the procedure, has changed from intravenous intervention to fatty meal-augmented hepatic iminodiacetic acid (HIDA) scan to augment gallbladder contraction. Our Objective of study was to determine the long-term outcome of patients with ABS who underwent cholecystectomy based on abnormal cholescintigraphy using a new isotope study protocol of oral fatty meal augmentation of the gallbladder.
